Six Louisburg students went to Tonganoxie to compete at state debate on Jan. 11 and 12. Those students were Tanner Myers, Matthew Parrodi, Katie Arbuckle sophomores; Amelia Baumgardner, junior; and Kayla Trivitt and Nicole Smith, seniors. The teams debated about transportation infrastructure and the white washing of roads.
Myers and Parrodi they went 2-4, Arbuckle and Baumgardner went 1-5 and Trivitt and Smith went 2-4. Even though they teams did not do as well as they hoped they would they are proud of themselves.
“We did okay, but I am very happy with the outcomes,” Mary Quinn debate teacher said. “They all worked really hard and gave their best effort”
There were a total of 72 schools and teams there. Despite the teams not qualifying for semi-finials, the team had a good time there.
“It was a lot of fun and very interesting” Arbuckle said.
To celebrate their hard work, the team went to Dave and Busters on the way home.
